Do you know how to cook? Cooking can be fun but also is hard to do. There is a cooking course being held for 6 weeks at Edgewood University. Professor Aberman, Professor Lamonaca, Professor Levinson, Professor Foley, and Professor Rosado are the teachers of this course. They are all great chefs and know a lot about cooking. The class cooks a different food each week. For example, the students have made nachos and English Muffin pizzas. The class meets in the teacher’s lounge and in Mrs. Lamonaca’s classroom. In the teacher’s lounge there is a oven, refrigerator, microwave, and many circular tables for the chefs to work at. The students work in partnerships to make the food for that week.

When interviewing Mrs. Aberman we learned that this course makes small samples of food. For example, instead of making a big pizza they made a miniature pizza. During the first and second class sessions the students made their own aprons and placemats. When the students made their placemats they used magazines. They cut out food they liked from the magazines and glued it to their placemat. To make their aprons, the students took markers and wrote and drew their favorite foods. The students also wrote their names on their aprons.

Two students in this course, Brian Reis and Santiago Rudloff decided to take this class because they enjoy making different kinds of food from different cultures. Pizza was Brian and Santiago’s favorite food they have made so far. They love pizza. The class is even making their own receipe books on Book Creator using an ipad. Brian and Santiago both cook at home as well. They plan on continuing to cook at home after this course is over and possibly share their recipes from the course with their family.

The cooking course sounds like a lot of fun! The boys and girls seem to be having a great time and learning a lot!
