Narrator: Do you see that big flag behind Frosty? That actually big structure made out of cans. Made by the fourth graders here at Edgewood.
(video music)
Narrator: The project is called Canstruction. Our goal was to make an American flag out of cans.
Standup:
Charlotte: We have 528 tomato soup cans, and 185 tuna fish cans.
Emily: Now that we have finished our construction we are going to donate more than 700 cans to St. Peter’s soup kitchen in Port Chester.

Alex: I thought is was is was hard because when you put them together you always had to make them perfectly lined up and you had to make sure they weren’t to far apart.
Christina: I think a lot of geometry, math and and kindness went because a lot of people had to spend money on cans.
(video of Ralph reading intro to Unveiling)
Ralph: Well, my favorite part was when I had to write the script for the assembly and then I had to go down stairs and count all the cans, every single can. It took a long time but I liked doing the math.
Christina: I mean that you can’t really build a whole seven hundred and something cans. By yourself in this short of time, and you need a team, and you can’t do it by yourself, and by team I mean you need some people to be counting and you need strategies, you need a lot of things you can not do alone.

Nina: The most amazing part was when the curtains were opening and how the teachers pulled the happy holiday sign so you could see the big canstruction that we made a flag. It was really cool, I liked that part.
