Trip Around the World
by Allison Zhang

Every year, our school holds a multicultural fair. There, students got an opportunity to learn about the cultures of many different countries all around the world. This year, a lot of Edgewood parents volunteered to run the exhibits and help students to understand more about each country.
The students were required to do a scavenger hunt throughout the fair where they found a certain item at every country that was important to its history. For example, they had to find Taekwondo for Korea and the Pyramids for Egypt. The students got to play with traditional toys at the Carribean stand. One toy was two metal rings on a stick, and when you turned it upside down and back up again, the rings spun down the stick looking like two floating bubbles. In Peru, they learnt about weaving with a loom. In China, you could try to use a stamp and roll it across a piece of paper to make a design. In Egypt, you could even use papyrus, the ancient paper the Egyptians wrote on!
After the fair, many students said they really enjoyed the experience because they got to learn about places around the world in a fun way with their buddies. Everyone liked it, and we hope there will be more in the future!
