What is the Read-a-Latte?
The Read-a-Latte is an event where you can try books you're interested in, like Baby Sitters-Little Sister or I Survived, and many other books. You read the first chapter of all the books you want to try. Some books you might like, don't like, or love. Either way, it's good that you tried a new book. Books that you tried or haven't will go to your classroom.
Tradition, or not?
No. It is not a tradition...yet.
The Read-a-Latte was created in 2024. Only the third graders do it. It is not a tradition yet because the school has not repeated it a lot of times. We hope it becomes another school tradition. But everyone gets to do it when you're in third grade.
What?
Yes, Edgewood has traditions, like the Halloween Parade and the Edgewood Fair, and so on.
Why do we have a Read-a-Latte?
The Read-a-Latte is a thing that third graders do. If they get bored of reading the same book, they go to the Read-a-Latte with their class. The purpose is to get to know new books.
What do you have in the Read-a-Latte?
So in the Read-a-Latte, the PTA gives you a pen with fake flowers on it and a little notebook for you to write in. Lastly, they give you a latte cup with water in it. Isn't that cute?
It's on one day when all of third grade is split into 6 groups, and there are 6 tables. Each table has a theme. You go to each table and write down a book that you tried and might like to read. Everyone in the Read-a-Latte goes around table by table until each kid has been at every table.

And don't forget to...
Read-a-Latte!!!
